I had so much fun building my baby shower registry this past year. Although I had ZERO experience with babies, I got a lot of my recommendations from my mom friends, blog posts like this and youtube! Now I have my own experiences and opinions, because truly every baby is different. So if you’re like me and aren’t really sure what you actually need, keep reading!
I’m going to be honest, newborn bath time was NOT my favorite. For 1 I just never felt she was dirty and needed a bath, so it seemed like a chore on top of everything else that was added to our routine. And 2, she was so tiny and floppy LOL it just was not an easy task. It took a while to figure out a good routine and what products made our life easier.
Now fast forward 6 months, my baby LOVES bath time, and so do I. Its some of my favorite one on one time that we get with each other. Bath time has also been a wonderful thing during those moments when babe is just upset and nothing else is making her happy.
Here are some items we love and would recommend you add to your baby registry!
- Baby Bath Tub
Fisher-Price Baby to Toddler Bath 4-in-1 Sling ‘n Seat Tub
This bath tub has been so great for us, and it grows with your baby. The removable sling works great for the floppy newborn stage, there is a reclined position, and then a seated position. Keeping baby comfortable for each phase!
One of the best parts about this tub is that you don’t have to fill the whole tub up to do bath time. The bath seat option you may have already seen is nice, but then you have to fill the whole tub for a baby that is only 10lbs. Just seems a little unnecessary. The bath seat will be out next phase, but that will be a couple months yet!
2. Rinsing Cup
Frida Baby Control The Flow Rinser
This one seems a little silly because really you can just use a cup, just being real. But honestly this is a great addition to bath time. For the obvious purpose of rinsing soap off, but also helps keep them warm and you can control better where the water goes, keeping soap and water out of babes eyes and ears. I love all things Frida Baby brand!
3. Cradle Cap set
Frida Baby DermaFrida Flakefixer
Another Frida product. This thing has saved my baby from cradle cap multiple times. Seriously, whenever she shows signs of cradle cap, I use this during her bath, and poof its gone. I do recommend buying a separate sponge, as this one did fall off after some time. But the key to this set are the brushes anyways! Also who else is a new mom/soon to be mom and had no idea cradle cap was a thing, because same.
4. Baby Washcloths
MUKIN Baby Washcloths
These ones specifically, they are so soft, and not too small like some others. We tried a couple kinds, and some of them were just rough. We used these for washing, but also to simply lay over her belly during the bath to help keep her warm. I actually use these as well during my skin care to replace cotton pads and love them.
5. Body Wash
Vivvi & Bloom 2 in 1 Body Wash
Shout out to Baby List registry box! This was a full sized sample I received with my baby registry, along with the lotion, and it was a definite repurchase for us. The ingredients are clean and it was fabulous for my babies skin! Andd its fragrance free, not to sound like a weirdo, but I dont want my baby to smell like perfumes, I want my baby to smell like a baby!
Notable Mention: Vivvi & Bloom Whip Lotion
This lotion is also hypoallergenic and fragrance free. This has been great going into the winter months. and yes.. I’ve used this as well…
6. Towel Warmer
Large Towel Warmer
You’re probably thinking, why the heck would I need a towel warmer for my baby, so extra. And pre-mom me would completely agree! But let me set the scene: You’re giving your baby a bath for your bedtime routine, they are happy and relaxed, everything is going great… until you take them out of the bath, they start crying immediately, why? Because you just took them out of a nice warm bath and into the cold! At least this was the case for us, my baby was happy as a could be while in the bath, but as soon as it was over all that relaxation was gone. I started using my towel warmer for the baby towel and what a game changer, she was no longer upset getting out of the bath. Sometimes I might argue that she is happier in the warm towel than the bath.
Note: If you are going to put pjs in the warmer make sure they don’t have any snaps or zippers, these will get really hot!
Also one last thing, and Im not even going to add it to the list, because you’re not going to listen (I didnt when I was told this). But you don’t need cutesy baby bath towels, a regular bath towel works so much better. Do what you will with this information lol.
Hope you get some inspiration from this list! For me bath time went from something I dreaded doing, to something we both looked forward to with just a few simple adjustments! Happy baby registry building and happy bath time!
If you have something you think should be on this list for bath time feel free to leave a comment!
